Interpretations of our theme “The Body in Focus” will lead to an absorbing exhibition at Gallery 2453 during April and May.
The Dorrigo Visual Arts group will present unframed works selected from their sketches done in the “Room of Requirement” and elsewhere. Every week artists gather in Dorrigo to draw each other, work on individual projects, have fun and improve their skills. “The body” is an important element in these works because the freshness of an instant response creates lively lines, fresh perspectives and energy that a studied studio piece sometimes lacks. At other times the sketches will be more subdued and detailed, interpreting the restful moment in the sitter’s life.
In addition to these sketches, exhibits will include framed works, sculptures, prints and photographic media entered by members of the Arts Council of the Dorrigo.
“The Body in Focus” will be on display from opening night (from 6pm) on Wednesday 11th April until it closes on Sunday 13th May. The hours are 10am to 4pm every day.
